ABOUT

Recalloop Studio is a small studio where one person makes games. I do the design and the implementation myself.

No real names or designs are used. I make things that never existed anywhere, yet somehow look familiar.

Right now I'm making THE BACKLOG, a first-person sim set in a used-game shop after closing, where you return the cartridges piled on the floor to the shelf for each console.

  • RECALL

You remember it out of the blue and come back for just one more round. That's why the ending is what I think about longest.

  • LOOP

I look for a feel that doesn't get old with repetition. I build the core loop first, then expand from there.

  • SOLO

As much as my hands can cover, at the pace they can manage. What I make gets posted to Ci-en and X as it's done.

THE BACKLOG

Backlog: clear the mountain of cartridges!

  • PC

The shutter is down on a used-game shop. Cartridges that were appraised but never put back are piled all over the floor.

Pick it up. Read the sign. Slide it into the shelf for that console. That's all there is to do, with no timer and no game over. When the floor is clear, the exit door opens.

There are 20 fictional retro consoles. Every cartridge, disc and box has its own shape and size, so once it's in your hand you can guess where it goes. The shelves are the hard part: to know which shelf belongs to which console, you either read the sign or remember.
